Dearest Wintergarden Faith Community,
As we continue to pray for one another, our community, our country, and our world, let us do so with love and hope. Our weekly email of prayers is a way for us to share the prayers shared in worship, through the food pantry, and our various other ministries with a larger group. Due to privacy needs we will only include the first names of people and not last names. We also know this list will not be perfect and in need of constant updating. We will review this every week and be mindful of how we are being asked to pray for one another, our community, our country, and our world.
Blessings,
Pastor Devon
Prayers for a Bigger Table
During our Lenten journey, we explored what a bigger table would look like and we were all asked to write our hopes for a bigger table and to put them in a cup at the alter. Below are those that were shared.
“My hope for a bigger table is…
- opportunities for learning and growing.
- honoring God by treating ALL with dignity and respect
- new friends
- the opportunity to better love whomever God puts in our path
- living out, “God bless all, with all meaning all”
- hope
- a great from of evangelism
- inviting more and “different” people into our lives. No “buts” or exclusions
- hope for one family!
- having more people to love!
(That last one is from Maya, who repeatedly teaches us to love better.)
Maybe we all pray these into our future together.
Prayers of Joy
- We all celebrate with Cherie, just finished 5 years of physical therapy! With God on one side and Steven on the other, she made to to the finish line!
- Prayers of joy for family and friends with us here today.
- Joy for seeing the faces we haven’t seen in a while.
- For the birds and flowers during the Easter sunrise service.
- For loving and joyful volunteers
- For Easter and all it’s meaning.
- For a bigger table where all feel welcomed, included, and loved.
Concerns
- Prayers for Shaun and his family. His daughter Jenny passed away. Pray for healing of their hearts and for traveling mercies as he travels to France to plan the funeral with his other daughter.
- Prayers for helpful test results.
- Pray for Larry, who has a medical procedure and testing this week.
- Continue to also pray for Bud and Donna.
- For Barbara and Fred and Fred’s healing.
- For Kymmie’s mom’s health.
- Pray for Cheryl’s PT person as her father passed.
- Pray for Sandee, Cheryl’s neighbor who lost her bird over the weekend.
- Pray also that we all remember, “there but for the grace of God go I.”
- For all those struggling: the homeless, hungry and hurting; those fighting addiction and for their mental health; for our veterans; for those impacted by hate and exclusion; and for those serving and working for reconciliation for any of these.
- For all the war and violence – for peace around the world!
- For peace in our own lives and for our world.
Traveling Mercies
- Pray for safe travels for all for 2024!
