Dearest Faith Community Near and Far-Happy Thanksgiving Week!

First, if you need anything to help with recovery from the Hurricane, please let me know. Just call, text, or email. Call me at 941-525-6671. Also, please continue to pray deeply for our community at large.

Second, we will be having our Annual Thanksgiving Celebration on Thursday, Novembe 24 at 2pm. It looks like the weather will be gorgeous, so we will gather outdoors in the memorial garden for our meal. If folks want to hang around, there will be a movie in the library. Bring a friend and a dish to share.

Third, we will continue to post resources on our Facebook page, as well as images of the work being done and how we are continuing the serve our community. Please share the exciting things happening with your friends.

Fourth, the tent was put up today! Thank you to everyone who helped figure out the location and how to make it work.  Looking forward to having more shade for “Breakfast Church”.

Fifth, for worship, we will continue to have “Breakfast Church” on Sunday mornings. What will breakfast church look like? We will gather in the garden around tables to eat breakfast. With this meal, we will enjoy fellowship, prayer, a scripture lesson, and being in community together. We are going to embody breaking bread together and being the body of Christ in a different way. We will gather at 9:30 and this Sunday, please bring a dish to share. We had hoped to be able to stream this Sunday, but due to Tropical Storm Nicole, we were not able to do a test run. Hoping to be able to stream for online worship on November 20, 2022.

Sixth, Sacred Space will officially begin on Sunday, November 27 at a new time for the first Sunday of Advent and will be online. Because of setting up for breakfast church, in order to enjoy the meditation aspect of worship, we will gather at the fountain at 8:00am. We were hoping to stream the 9:30 service this week, but the internet is broken in the pantry and we will not get to test everything until next week. Breakfast Church will begin being streamed and online on November 27. FYI- Although Breakfast Church begins at 9:30, we will probably not beginning streaming worship until 10am.   Seventh, thank you for the way you are giving of your time and your financial gifts.  Click HERE if you would like to contribute to disaster relief and please share this link with your friends and family. You can also continue to give to the general fund, food pantry, and community garden. Thank you for supporting our faith community and for everything you do to help us live into our mission to feed people physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally in our community. You are helping us truly be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

Lastly, many of you know that the week Hurricane Ian hit, I was supposed to be on vacation. That did not happen, so I will be taking this week off. I am currently at a horse show with Emma in Ocala and we will then be enjoying a low key week at home. I am grateful that Lamont is willing to lead us in worship on Sunday morning. So I pray everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and come out for a delicious meal on Sunday morning and Thursday afternoon. If you have any questions or wonderings or concerns, please let me know. Call, text, or email. Blessings to you all!

Much love,
Pastor Devon

Sunday, November 27th – Sunday, January 8, 2023.
From Generation to Generation… reminds us of the ways our lives and stories are interconnected and woven together. In the midst of narratives, policies, and rhetoric designed to divide us, what does it look like to practice belonging to one another? The work of God is always unfolding – in and through us.
This Advent season, how will we carry it forth?

Prayer Request
Lectio Divina for Monday, November 21, 2022All are welcome to join us as we continue to engage in the spiritual practice of Lectio Divina together as a community.

Our Scripture Lesson is Isaiah 2:1-5.
(Also read Matthew 1:1-17 prior to Lectio)

We will gather via zoom for an intentional time of listening, reflecting, responding, and resting in the Word of God. We will meet on Mondays from 8-9 am.

Here are some details about Lectio Divina.

Lectio Divina, literally meaning “divine reading,” is an ancient practice of praying the Scriptures. During Lectio Divina, the person listens to the text of the Bible with the “ear of the heart,” as if he or she is in conversation with God, and God is suggesting the topics for discussion.

There are four movements for Lectio Divina:
1. Lectio: (Listening to the Word of God or Reading God’s Word)
2. Meditatio: (Reflecting on the Word of God)
3. Oratio: (Responding to the Word of God)
4. Contemplatio: (Resting in the Word of God)
