Dearest Wintergarden Faith Community,

Many have asked for weekly prayers to be shared with the community. This is a way for us to share the prayers shared in worship, through the food pantry, and our various other ministries. Due to privacy needs we will only include the first names of people and not last names. We also know this list will not be perfect and in need of constant updating. We will review this every week and be mindful of how we are being asked to pray for one another, our community, our country, and our world.

Blessings,
Pastor Devon

Loving People:
Beginning in August Pastor Devon started us on a new journey. She explained that fresh expressions of being the church involves: listening, loving people, building community, exploring discipleship, church taking shape, and doing it again.

First we talked was all about listening. Deep listen. Listening to God and to our community. We were asked,  “where God is moving in the community?” (8/14)
Then Pastor Devon encouraged us to love wholeheartedly. – to step out and be the church in new and unexpected ways! She also gave us all the homework assignment of trying something new that would lead to us meeting new people and making new friends.  So let us all pray for each other as we seek new friends as we move forward, toward new expressions of our faith. (8/21)

As we continue journey to become church in a new and different way, this week Pastor Devon reminded us that Jesus’ mission was to ensure those excluded by others were welcomed with Him. He created places of non-judgement, love, grace, and mercy. We were asked:
If we truly have the place we belong?
What is the new thing God is calling you to do?
Whom to you feel called to bring together?
And our sticky note question of the week was:
What kind of community do we need?

On the website for the church, there is a way to submit your prayer requests. If this is something you would be interested in doing, please do so. The prayer requests are emailed to Pastor Devon once they are submitted.
